- South Sudan is blessed with six agro-ecological zones that are suitablecfor farming a variety of crops including, maize, sorghum, cassava,
potatoes, rice, sesame, fruits, etc. - The country has an estimated 33 million acres of prime arable land. Of these, only 4 percent is currently being cultivated.
- South Sudan has nearly 5 times the area of agricultural land per
capital compared to Kenya, Uganda or Ethiopia. - Some 80 percent of rural households in South Sudan list agriculture as their primary source of livelihood.
